The stunning landmarks showcase that has some unknown points associated with them…

When we go somewhere and do not visit its landmark then it is a total useless trip because landmarks are not ordinary, they always possess an interesting history. A landmark basically means something conspicuous that marks a place. It can be anything that can be easily recognised from a distance, that has historical, cultural, or aesthetic importance and the world is full of both man-made and natural landmarks but unfortunately we are not aware of these landmarks properly. So, I am going to tell you about some of the stunning landmarks across the world.

List of some landmarks of the world:

  • Statue of Liberty: Almost everyone knows that Statue of Liberty holds a gold plated torch in one hand to welcome those arriving in America from across the ocean but only few knows that in actual the Statue of Liberty was a gift from the people of France to the citizens of the USA.
  • Machu Picchu: It is a tribute to the Inca culture because most of the cities built by the Inca civilization were destroyed by the Spanish conquest but Machu Picchu was in the hidden location which was invisible from below and because of this it was not found, making it one of the most well-preserved Inca cities.
  • The Leaning Tower: It is one of the most remarkable architectural structures located in Italian town but many people does not know that initially it was designed to be perfectly vertical but because of the instability of soil it started to lean during construction.
  • Stonehenge: Stonehenge is one of the most impressive prehistoric monuments in the world on account of its architectural design but there are no records as to why Stonehenge was built. Belief about it differs from people to people but the significance of concentric circles pattern is still a mystery.
  • Millau Viaduct: the Millau Viaduct is the tallest bridge structure in the world. There were many unique challenges faced during the construction, and the bridge has many technological innovations. To a person looking at it, the bridge appears to have seven ‘sails’ floating across the valley; these are the seven cables. The tall slender piers are unusually shaped, and the roadway has a slightly curve that gives an interesting effect.
  • Trevi Fountain: The Trevi Fountain in Rome is the largest, most beautiful, and most famous of the city’s fountains. Tourists also visit the Trevi Fountain to take part in a ritual coin toss. According to legend, if you toss a coin inti the Trevi, then you will be assured a return trip to Rome, the Eternal City.
  • Great Sphinx: The Great Sphinx is an enormous statue carved out of limestone that has the face of a man and the body of a lion which is lying down. A part of the Sphinx’s face has been damaged but what makes it truly mysterious is the weathering that it has undergone because according to the geologists, the weathering has not been caused by wind or sand as would be expected in the desert but by water. Since this desert has not received any significant rainfall for thousands of years. The source of water is still a mystery.
